No, I didn't. Vos, old ferry port, depth three meters give or take. There are quite big rocks, I turned over a lot of them (AND put them back carefully with the right way pointing up ;) ...)
This goby was sitting underneath it and didn't move for some seconds. |

Underneath those big rocks as well as underneath the trottoir there are "cavey" conditions. I enjoy turning over those rocks (again: I put them back in place the right way!) ... in some places like Vos all the undersides of the rocks are connected with each other and with the trottoir and therefore with the caves. So a cave animal can leave his cave without actually leaving the cave environment (or find shelter when surprised by dawn).
Fun fact: for a whole day I refused to accept my determination since I didn't find this goby in a cave! But then, I also thought Mullus barbatus will not go into shallow water since my book told me so ... |

I know Patrick Louisy well, I have requested and obtained many variations from the previous edition, almost all the minimum depths have been changed considerably and also the few errors present in that edition removed. In 13 years the knowledge of the species has improved a lot.
