Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?

Hi Marco, for the identification of Silpha it is always good to see the antennae well (the 8. limb is important) and to see the Elytra. Yours will be difficult I think. I would try the ID at the beetle itself, but no Silpha normaly has got rough Elytra like this one. This is a variability of one of the well known silpha-species or you've got one species in Italy thats Elytra are this rough. so I'm sorry, but I can't identify this one by photo.
Ciao Klaas |

Silpha carinata is the only species with the eighth limb of the antennae is in the form (more or less) of a bell. The other species' do have a shorter and more broad 8. limb. The beetle in your photo has got a normal formed (broad and short) limb, so I can tell it is not Silpha carinata.
Most of the Silpha-species do have three fins on the Elytra. For this character you don't count the fin formed where the Elytra join. So the ones with three fins actually have four and the others three. Yours seem to have only two (three) fins what normaly would bring you to Silpha tatrica, but this one only occures in the Tatra mountains which is part of the Carpathian mountains. So it can't be this one. The last fin need to be bended very conspicuously inside, which isn't in this beetle. So no Silpha tatrica, even not displaced.
If I take a very close look at your beetle, it seem to have the third fin between the two others, but very inconsiderable and I'm everything but not sure in this.
Silpha tyrolensis is much more glossy than yours.
I can't decide between Silpha oblonga, which I have never seen, and Silpha obscura or Silpha tristis. I found a photo in the net...

... that seems to make it Silpha tristis. But the rough character of the Elytra are not typical for this or for any other European species I know. It is a variation that might be an effect of problems by hatching out of the pupa or similar problems and can be found in the other possibly, too. Have a look f.e. at this Silpha tyrolensis.

It is not that clear as it is in the other linked photo, but the photo is very blurred and in a bad perspective to see it well, so I guess we won't get to the species.
