Achieving the 2010 Biodiversity Target!
Please join the Conference at: Link
Dear National Focal Points, Dear Biodiversity Partners,
As you probably know, on 20 January 2006 the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity launched the Virtual Curitiba Biodiversity Conference (VCBC) at the following Internet address: Link
The purpose of this on-line mega consultation process is to gather opinions on how to achieve the 2010 biodiversity target. The outcome of this consultation will assist the Eighth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 8) to be held in Curitiba, Brazil, from 20 to 31 March 2006, and particularly its High-Level Ministerial Segment, in addressing this crucial issue.
A few weeks after the launch, we are happy to report that more than 2000 people have visited the Virtual Conference web site. However, few contributions have been made. Therefore, we would appreciate your help to enhance participation in the following ways:
Please join the Conference and express your opinion on how to achieve the 2010 biodiversity target.
Please transmit this message to your national contacts, civil society, NGOs and other partner organizations, inviting them to participate.
If possible, advertise the Conference on your national web site, and encourage your partners to do the same.
To overcome any language barriers, a special effort has been made to set up 6 parallel conferences, one in each of the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Russian. The discussions are moderated by a multi-lingual team of moderators. Anyone who has Internet access can participate through a simple 2-step process:
1. Join the conference - To create your user account. 2. Go to the discussions - To start posting your views by answering one of the 4 questions or complement a previous answer made by someone else.
We thank you in advance and look forward to your participation.
Ahmed Djoghlaf Executive Secretary Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Biodiversity

grazie Gregor.
