Ciao

In the coastal sands of Israel the Messor arenarius is very active
the delay winter allow them more work days to increase supplies

They feed mainly on seeds and some other phyto sources and some time they even take insects corpse

But the amazing phenomenon (and not rare) is what u see in the bellow photos
I'm not sure I can just explain this as aggressive behavior to stranger ant from other nest.
And why all the ants died in the end?

Any Ideas r welcome

We must do two introductory statements.
  • Ants don't survive in the environmental conditions of the sunny sand surface: temperature too high and humidity too low.
  • Ants bite into the enemies until the victim is still alive.
Probably your three ants have died before their victim !

Noi dobbiamo fare due premesse:
  • Le formiche non sopravvivono alle condizioni ambientali della superficie sabbiosa assolata.
  • Le formiche afferrano i loro nemici finché la vittima rimane viva.
Probabilmente le tue tre formiche sono morte prima della loro vittima !
