According to Gon & Randall [A Review of the Cardinalfishes (Perciformes: Apogonidae) of the Red Sea] the species who actually lives in the Red Sea is Apogonichthyoides pharaonis, while A. nigripinnis is restricted to the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific Ocean. Therefore, your pictures show a specimen of Apogonichthyoides pharaonis.

Thank You very much for your clarification and fishbase should move their picture for A. nigripinnis to A. pharaonis because it was taken in Cyprus as well.
If here is some interest in Lessepsian migrants here in the forum then I could start a tread on this topic. I can provide pictures of (all are form Cyprus): Apogonichthyoides pharaonis as above, Alepes djedaba, Pteragogus pelycus, Fistularia commersonii, Pempheris vanicolensis, Siganus luridus, Siganus rivulatus, Atherinomorus lacunosus and finally Sargocentron rubrum for the fish and for invertebrates: Aquilonastra burtoni (Asteridae), Synaptula reciprocans (Synaptidae), Coromurex persicus (Gastropoda), Celidonura fulvipunctata (Gastropoda), Portunus pelagicus (Portuninae) and but that needs to be checked Branchiomma bairdi (Sabellidae). -- Helmut Carl Simak |

I wrote to Fishbase. They reply me that it is not right Apogonichthyoides nigripinnis and they will change the identification of photo of the fish from Cyprus by P. Wirtz. It is right Apogonichthyoides pharaonis. Fishbase thanks
