This is a picture of Chaetanaphothrips orchidii, a thrips (Thysanoptera) that was introduced to Europe from Asia. It is widespread now all over Europe and is known as a pest on leaves of many different plants. The picture has been produced in stacking technique. The body size of the adult female is about 1,2mm.

Welcome! I am not an entomologist at all, but… what a photo! I've never seen the like, on a thrips. Impressive. I've been fascinated by these animals since I was a child, observing them on the flower petals. Very interesting site.
