While waiting for an expert, I can tell my experience.
The one on the left certainly is a female with eggs. They have such a transformation before deposing. In our Gallery you can find some photos of mine showing the big female and the eggs and sons too.
As for the genus and species, I can say very little. I only observe that also the genus Dermacentor (the one in my photos) is similar. luigi

Hi, I can only say that the little one is also a female, they have small shields but males have entire shields, covering the whole body.

1)These ticks belong to the genus Rhipicephalus because of the hexagonal shape of basis capituli 2)They are not R. annulatus, because they have coxa 1 deeply bifid with external and internal spurs, in R. annulatus coxa 1 isn't bifid Link 3) In Israeli towns there are R. sanguineus and R. turanicus and both have very similar characters Link 4) R. sanguineus is "virtually" a three host monotrophic tick: dogs are hosts for all stages of development but it can live on many other animals, as well as humans 5) R. turanicus parasitizes a great variety of hosts including dogs and humans
Finally you found them on a dog, so it is difficult to say if they are R. sanguineus or R. turanicus: both can be found on the same host, specially when it is a dog

No, ha festoni, per cui si può escludere l'annulatus. |
