Classe: Malacostraca Ordine: Isopoda Famiglia: Armadillidae Genere: Armadillo Specie:Armadillo officinalis
Ciao
An interesting finding while photographed an Armadillo sp. for my blog
In the attach photos u can see some shiny spots between the 1th to the 2th segments - at the first photo and between the 2th to the 3th segments - at the second photo
Its not very clear from the photo, but i have looked at the specimen throughout sterpscopic microscop and those spots r mites. probably some phoretic mites.
Is any one here have any information regarding this mite One option could be Bakerdania elliptica but I do not know anything about the desterbution of this mite and did not find photos of it
Tks Amir

Hi Amir, I don't know if it is present in your country, but it seems to be Armadillo officinalis. Have you got a ventral view and an image of the telson?
I can confirm that the specimen you sent, is Armadillo officinalis, this species is present in Israel. Elements of distinction of this species are: 1) The base of the cephalon flat (see your first image near the antennae) 2) The first two epimera appear as if they were double (see your third image) 3) The telson length-width ratio is about 1 : 2 (see your last image) If you want know more, you can download this document The terrestrial isopod genus Armadillo in western Asia Regards
