Are all of these the same specimen? I dont really understand what's going on with what looks like abdominal patterns, which seem to be changing position. Are those actually white stripes or are they generated by the flash?
Im not really sure about the genus. Considering the Salticidae recorded for Malta and the general appearance of this specimen (shiny black body, orange legs, yellow palps), C. infimus is definitely the best bet. However those abdominal markings (if they indeed are markings) are out of place. Also, 4mm bodylength is actually quite a lot for C. infimus, which is an extremely small species (around 2.5mm). Are you sure about the size? |

| I think that is an effect of light reflection and the spider has a polished (shiny) black texture, without any stripes. |

Thank you and I do apologise for the delay in answering.
Going through my records I realise that in fact these could be 3 different specimens as there is a gap of 3 minutes between each photo, even though they were all shot in the same location.
I also presume that you are right and that the white markings are the effect of flash, and that this is C. infimus.
