Great photo Christine ! Would you be able to give us some details of the equipment and techniques you use? In English is fine and if necessary, I'll give a quick translation. Good to have you wish us.

Dear Christine, M33 is one of my favourite nebulosa..I remember of a wonderful picture in a book, a grandma's gift. Now i have that book no more but please help me to remember correctly. Is M33 the nearest galaxy to the Earth e and is it visible without lenses in a bright night? I remember the answer was affirmative in both cases.. Kisses Daniela

Thank you everyone.
Here is the information for the photo (Daniela - yes, you are correct! Under dark skies, M31 can be seen with the naked eye. Giubit - You noticed the other two galaxies!)
M31 - Andromeda Galaxy (NGC 224), taken at Chiefland Astronomy Village (CAV), FL.
Spiral Galaxy, type Sb, located in Andromeda RA: 00:42.7 / Dec: + 41:16 Visual Brightness: 3.4 Distance: approximately 2.9 million light-years
The Andromeda Galaxy is part of the what is known as the Local Group. Also seen in image are M32 (NGC 221) and M110 (NGC205), both Elliptical Galaxies that are Satellites of Andromeda.
FIRST LIGHT with Losmandy and Orion! (This was a brand new telescope mount and a new refractor, the Orion 80ED. This was the first time they were set up and used.)
Telescope: Orion 80ED piggybacked to 8" Meade SCT Focus: Prime with 2" adapter Mount: Losmandy G-11 with Gemini Guide: Unguided
Image processed in IP (ImagesPlus), then in Photoshop CS using levels, curves, hue/sat with Gradient Xterminator and Neat Image plugins, followed by Astronomy Tools Actions.
Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel: ISO 800, WB: Daylight, Wireless remote.
4 images stacked, aligned, combined and processed in ImagesPlus 2.10. 152sec, 114sec, 144sec and 109sec for total of 8 minutes 39seconds.
I hope the information makes sense. Again, thank you everyone for you lovely comments, and making me feel very welcomed here. :)

Bellissima Christine
A larger crop could reduce the noise in the background a little bit. Why not the full resolution?
Since a few weeks i have also a Skywatcher ED80. Waits for Firstlight. Perhaps on 29 March. |
